About us

The name GUMIdeck is a shortening of the English name GUMI wood decking. The word GUMI was used because the entire wooden floor is laid on a grid which is made of synthetic rubber. It is a connector that is made of a highly durable synthetic rubber used in the automotive industry. Its specially designed shape allows easy and multiple installation without losing its properties even after many years of use. The synthetic rubber, with ideal parameters, is strong enough to ensure a solid connection of the wooden boards and elastic enough for the easiest possible installation.

Material

Terrace GUMI is a natural thermo-ash wood. A special and complex thermo-modification process significantly improves the natural properties of ash to make it resistant to wind, sun, frost and water.

Unfortunately, no. There is currently only one floor colour available that gives an exclusive natural look.

Yeah. We currently supply finishing strips in one length only. However, in the case of slats, boards, cutting them to the correct size is not difficult and can be done using the simplest wooden saw.

Yes, currently only the grooved surface boards are for sale.

GUMI boards are made of natural wood thermo ash, so their flammability is the same as any other wood. Do not expose wooden boards to high temperatures that can cause ignition.

There is no such risk. As a result of the thermal modification process, the wood is stripped of its natural resins, so you don't have to worry.

The process of wood extraction, processing and subsequent use are ecological processes and are carried out in a rational and balanced manner. This is proven by certificates such as: FSC, ITD, which the GUMI terrace has. The wood processing process itself is carried out without the use of chemicals and is completely environmentally friendly.

The service life of the floor is more than 25 years, with proper and regular oil treatment. In the case of small domestic terraces or outdoor balconies on roofs, where humidity and weather conditions are clearly more demanding, increased care is required. However, we are confident that GUMI wooden parquet floors will serve you perfectly in the toughest conditions and give you great satisfaction for many years of use.

No plastic can replace the luxurious and warming feeling of a real wooden terrace. After some time, when the colour of the synthetic plastic wears off, the advantage of a wooden floor is that the impregnating oil will give it the original colour effect again, without leaving, for example, greasy spots on the floor after a barbecue. Compared to man-made materials, natural wood does not overheat and can be stepped on even on hot summer days with bare feet.

Assembly - installation

No. GUMI wood decking should be laid on special rubber connectors. Do not attach the connector to the floor in any way, e.g. by screwing screws into the floor.

There are several ways. The boards can be cut at an angle to your balcony or patio ensuring a very good fit to the shape of your balcony or patio. So-called teeth are not formed. In both cases, however, we recommend that you contact our customer service department who will help you to best fit , apply and store the boards.

The surface should first be cleaned of all kinds of dirt. In the case of paving stones, it is also a good idea to remove the grass growing between the stones. In the case of a concrete floor, it can be protected from being crushed and dusted with soil or liquid sheeting.

The finishing strips that we offer are used to cover the surface of the terrace with wood more precisely and beautifully in places where it is not possible to place a board with a full width (70 mm). To finish the edges of the terrace, use GUMI connectors cut in half. This is a very simple and aesthetic solution.

You don't have to fill all the holes. They should be fitted so as to provide a stable support and at the same time a strong connection to the adjacent boards. To achieve this effect, you do not need to fill all the holes. The connectors in the packs have been selected and supplied in such a way that the number of connectors is sufficient for you to fit the whole floor.

Of course. If you need to replace a board, you can do it without dismantling the others.

Useful information can be found in the contact section. We recommend that you contact our customer service department, they will guide you precisely and help you to arrange the installation of the wooden terrace.

Does the surface of the terrace/balcony have to be levelled horizontally ?

The dimensions of balconies and terraces are usually calculated from the edge of the balcony, but there are also situations where we should measure the surface on which we can realistically lay the patio slabs. This is, for example, when a large part of the balcony is outside the safety barrier or extends beyond the railings.

The GUMI wooden terrace has been designed so that its installation does not present any difficulties even for completely inexperienced users. However, there are situations (curves, stairs, inclines) in which we recommend the help of specialists. In this case, contacting our customer service department to resolve doubts is certainly the best solution.

The space under the wooden boards is 10 mm, if the well-protected cable does not exceed its diameter, there are no obstacles to its implementation.

It certainly does. The floor has been designed in a way that allows for the easiest installation. Of course, it's a good idea to arm yourself with gloves, but the gradual laying of the boards shouldn't cause any problems.

A sufficient number of connectors are supplied in packs so that the boards can be assembled in a stable manner. It is not necessary for the connector to be placed in all the holes drilled in the boards. If a situation arises where connectors are missing, they have probably been placed in too many holes. To avoid disassembly of the patio, we recommend that you contact our customer service department to reorder the connector.

Order execution

No more than 2 working days. Usually we send the flooring as soon as payment is received

Yes, this delivery is possible. However, you must clearly state this before placing your order or, if applicable, in the comments during the submission process.

Such a possibility exists. However, this only applies to countries in the European Union where none of our partners are present.

Yes, it is possible. Wooden GUMI boards can be picked up in person in Bratislava.

Fortress

Yeah. GUMI's thermo ash wood planks are designed for outdoor use to withstand all weather conditions. Properly treated, they will last for many years without losing their aesthetic appearance.

Certainly not. 1 m2 of GUMI wooden flooring with connectors weighs 14.5 kg and is firmly on the ground. So you don't have to worry about the wind blowing them away or shifting them.

Properly used and maintained, the floor has a lifetime of many years and a very high durability. We have achieved this by using the right materials. Thermo ash wood in appropriate conditions and with care retains its properties and appearance for more than 25 years.

Application

It all depends on its specific dimensions, based on length and width. It is best to consult our customer service department in this area.

It certainly does. GUMI wood flooring can also be laid on a terrace or balcony with irregular shapes. However, it's a bit more complicated than that, and if you can't decide, it's a good idea to ask our specialist for help, who will advise you on how many boards you will need, so that you can cut them off and create the desired arch or other irregular shape. We recommend contacting our customer service department in this case.

The GUMI terrace should be laid on hard, non-deformable surfaces (preferably flat and level). If there is such a surface in the garden, there are no obstacles to laying the GUMI terrace.

GUMI flooring should not be installed on loose, soft and unstable substrates.

The connectors are very strong and durable, they are made of a flexible synthetic material that does not damage the insulation layers of the terraces. However, if you still have any doubts, you can always ask our customer service department for a free sample so that you can assess its durability yourself.

Terraces can be very different. There is no specific maximum size. For larger sizes that are not available in our calculator, please contact our customer service department.

Yeah. There are no barriers. However, it should be taken into account that the effect of chlorinated water may adversely affect the colour of the boards.

Caring for terraces

It all depends on its specific dimensions, based on length and width. It is best to consult our customer service department in this area.

We recommend that the boards are oiled after the summer season and after the winter season (if there is snow on them). This keeps the surface of the boards in very good condition and at the same time ensures a fresh and intense colour of the terrace.

Terrace boards made of thermo ash are adapted for use in outdoor conditions. A proper oil treatment of the patio before the winter season should be sufficient. The patio can be additionally covered with various types of snow protection materials, but keep in mind that the boards can get wet if they do not have an air supply.

Each is environmentally friendly, designed for wood and for exterior use. If the oil contains a UV filter, it will allow better protection of the colour of the boards.

The maintenance of wooden planks is really nothing difficult. In most cases, you just need to wash the surface of the patio with water and a brush, then after drying, apply a new coat of oil preferably using a wide bristled brush that is designed for wooden surfaces. If the boards have not been oiled for a long time (more than 1 season), and the surface is covered with a clearly visible dark grey patina, we use a cleaner to remove excess oil from the wood using available products. Flügger's proven oils are available in our online shop. The wood concentrate effectively cleans the old oil from the surface of the boards together with a wood neutralizing agent.

Of course, some kind of discolouration may occur, associated with excessive moisture under the surface of the leaves and uneven exposure to sunlight on the terrace. Avoid long-term storage of moist material directly on the terrace surface. It can affect not only the boards themselves but also the oil with which they have been treated.

You can simply sweep and wash the thermo ash wood with water. Avoid using a hard brush, which can scratch the boards and the oil with which the boards are coated.

With a conventional floor, which is fixed with screws, you would try to pull out the gold chain in vain. With GUMI flooring it is very easy. Simply remove the required plates from the connectors and pull the stuck object out, or vacuum up the stuck dirt.

If possible, we recommend removing the snow lying on the boards to keep the oiled surface of the boards in better condition. However, we are not referring to traditional snow removal with sharp blades, which could easily damage the boards.

Cold water can cause the boards to deteriorate under the influence of heat and subsequent cold water. In such cases we recommend using lukewarm water.

For the GUMI exterior boards, we chose a natural brown as the starting colour, most reminiscent of fresh ash and luxurious exotic woods. However, it is a colour that can be repainted with a patio oil in a different colour after a certain period of time. Some of our customers have preferred to treat their floors without oil and have achieved a patina effect.
